Is consumerism getting people down, setting them back, forcing them to be alienated from their neighbours? Probably.
This escalator is in a brand new shopping mall, however even at 8am on a Sunday when all the shops are shut, it still keeps going full steam ahead. Wasteful?

The Tank Stream is an old water course running under the heart of Sydney, ending up in Circular Quay. If you know the right people you can get down there as it has been channeled into concrete tunnels. Even if you can't get down there, it is marked on the pavements for all who have the time to see...
